Clinical Nurse Specialist – Emergency Department – 40 Hours – Day Shift

GENERAL SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Nursing Administrator(s)/Leadership, provides leadership and clinical expertise within the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS) spheres of influence to improve patient care, advance nursing practice and impact the health care delivery system. Functions as a leadership team member as a partner with the Nurse Manager/Director to assure competence, practice standards, orientation and education. The CNS serves as a clinical expert providing teaching, mentoring, consulting, research, management and systems improvement in a specific practice area or with a patient population.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
· Current Michigan Registered Nurse license required.
· Current Michigan Clinical Nurse Specialist certification and license required.
· Candidates not possessing current CNS certification & licensure hired as `Nurse Practice Specialist (F01677), until CNS certification and licensure obtained (within 90 days of hire).
· Master's Degree in Nursing required.
· Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively more responsible experiences as a registered nurse in a clinical setting with expertise substantiated through education, experience and credentials required.
· Evidence of expertise in clinical knowledge, skill and judgment directly linked to specialty area of expertise.
