The RN is responsible for the direction and supervision of the patient care team according to nursing services departmental policy and procedures and standards of care. The patient care team is typically made up of Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA) but may involve other caregivers as needed. The RN will direct the patient care team, delegating takes as appropriate to meet patient care needs. The RN will assess the needs of each patient for whom he or she is responsible and, by the application of critical thinking and independent judgment, will determine the order of team assignments to achieve desired outcomes.
MINIMUM EDUCATION
Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN)
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE
None
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Current Michigan Nursing license
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, or must obtain within the first year
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, and ABILITIES
Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, advanced assessment skills
Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Detailed knowledge of the Nursing Process as well as knowledge about the adult and geriatric patient population
Proficient knowledge of nursing practices, policies, procedures, competencies, and patient care standards
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
Adult acute care experience
