Position Summary: 
The Director, Surgical Services has been delegated the authority, responsibility and accountability for providing the leadership necessary to ensure the successful operation in order to meet the departments' needs. Oversees the provision of quality in the Surgical services Operating Room, Post-anesthesia Care Unit, Outpatient Surgery Center, Digestive Health Centers, Scheduled Care, Pre-admission testing, Cast Room, Central Sterile Processing ensuring the achievement of organizational mission, values, and goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Assures the provision of high-quality, cost effective services for neonatal, pediatric, adolescents, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Ability to function successfully in an extremely challenging environment
  • Establishes a course of action for self and others to accomplish specific goals; planning proper assignments, and effective and efficient allocation of resources
  • Actively attends Management Committee meetings

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in related field. 

The successful candidate must enroll in an accredited Master’s program (MSN or related field) within one year, with completion within four (4) years of acceptance of the position.

 

Minimum Work Experience

3 years of successful administrative experience in related clinical setting

2 years of appropriate clinical experience

 

Required Licenses/Certifications

RN licensure in the State of Michigan

 

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Demonstrates leadership ability, communications, and interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with physicians, management staff, external agencies/customers and patients/families

 

Preferred Qualifications

MSN or other related Master's degree

Demonstrated leadership experience in surgical services
