  • Works independently, following established policies and procedures, and performs investigative research in areas related to biomedical research.
  • Assists in the development of new methodologies and prepares material for incorporation into publications or for use in laboratory procedures.
  • Develops and tests hypotheses.
  • Conducts experiments using various methodologies, including the collection and analysis of data.
  • May act as project leader and resource person for personnel or laboratory related matters.
  •  Is responsible for initiating and writing scientific manuscripts for publication.
  • May assist or be responsible for preparing and submitting grant applications to external peer review agencies.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • A professional level of knowledge comparable to that which is acquired through obtaining a Ph.D., M.D., D.O., D.D.S., or equivalent degree.
  •  A minimum of one year of research experience.
  • Research experience acquired while obtaining a PhD or advanced degree meets this requirement.
  •  Training/experience appropriate to meet the job-specific preferences as required by the hiring department.
  • Requires a proven working knowledge of various research methodologies.
  • Familiarity with computer programming and statistics may be helpful.
  • Requires manual dexterity to operate complex equipment.
Preferred skills :
·       Experience with Monte Carlo dose calculations in radiation therapy.
·       Understanding of detectors used in radiation therapy and perturbation effects.
·       Experience with magnetic fields and simulation of Monte Carlo dose calculations in presence of magnetic fields.
·       Good understanding of radiation treatment planning for different treatment sites, such as lung cancers.
·       Good understanding of motion management techniques in radiation therapy.
·       Good understanding and experience with Image guided radiation therapy.
·       Excellent computational skills.
·       Publication record demonstrating skills in research related to radiation oncology.
