Scrum Master / IT Senior Project Manager - (Detroit)
GENERAL SUMMARY:
As Senior Project Manager, working under general direction of the Program Director, this role is responsible for all aspects of one or more medium to large sized IT projects of moderate to high complexity and provides a single point of accountability for those projects. May also assist in managing aspects of larger programs. Takes projects from original concept through final implementation. Defines project scope and objectives. Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports. Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking and analysis, including participation in the Program Management Office (PMO) tollgate process. Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables. Manages the integration of vendor tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables. Provides technical and analytical guidance to the project team. Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solution of problems. In the role of Scrum Master, establishes Scrum practices and processes to ensure the program team is successful in their product delivery. Continuously assesses the Scrum Maturity of the program teams and provides coaching to develop higher levels of maturity at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the program and its business partners.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (PROJECT MANAGER):
- Creates and implements project definitions, schedules, budgets, and objectives for one or more medium to large sized projects. Prepares detailed statements of work and gains concurrence and approval from stakeholders regarding various project aspects and adjusts accordingly. Participates in delivery assurance reviews to ensure adherence to project management policies and procedures.
- Assists in the staffing of projects. Organizes project team members to ensure communication and understanding of deadlines, assignments, and objectives. Participates in work as applicable.
- Manages costs, schedules, and quality by overseeing project deliverables. Ensures schedule and budget are met.
- Performs ongoing review of project status; identifies possible project risks. Recommends and implements risk mitigation solutions as approved and appropriate.

Works in conjunction with team members and stakeholders to manage changes to technical requirements, business requirements, and schedule of the project. Provides input on possible changes needed based on current project status.

Manages client, company, and project team expectations for agreed upon project performance by obtaining, providing, and monitoring project metrics. Recommends changes or alternate paths based upon performance and metrics.

Oversees assigned personnel for projects. Assigns work and provides direction with regard to timeliness and completion of project objectives. Addresses performance issues within prescribed guidelines. Provides performance input upon completion of project.

Manages written and verbal stakeholder communication on the project goals, scope, schedule, budget, and project status.

Drives the project to make sure that the critical issues are identified, resolved, or escalated to make sure that the project delivers successfully.

Capable of getting into technical or functional details of project, if need be, to understand and help resolve the issue.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (SCRUM MASTER):
- Guides and coaches the team to follow Agile/Scrum practices including daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning, code reviews, and appropriate decision making methods.
- Guides and coaches the team to become self-organized and efficient.
- Helps the team assess their ‘Scrum Maturity’ and higher levels of maturity including the establishment of a target velocity and metrics reporting.
- Facilitates the team’s progress toward their goals and ensures it is in alignment with the OneHENRY Advisory Council’s priorities.
- Manages and prioritizes the product backlog and resolves impediments that interfere with sprint schedules.
- Builds a safe and trusting environment where conflicts can be managed in a healthy way without fear of blame.
- Is responsible for supporting and coaching the Product Owners and Business Partners on Agile/Scrum practices.
- Assists with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, information technology, engineering or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5 years of project management experience required; 3 years project management experience in a Healthcare setting preferred.
- 2 years of experience as a Scrum Master managing an Agile software development team is required.
- 1 year of experience leading a SharePoint project preferred.
- PMI certification required within 1 year of hire.
- ITIL certification is preferred.
- Solid understanding of project management and Agile methodologies as well as PMI best practices for Agile Project Management.
- Experience working with delivery assurance principles and appropriate procedures relevant to area.
- Experience working with techniques and approaches related to the architecture, development, integration, and deployment of project phases.
- Good skills and knowledge of facilitation, continuous improvement, empowerment, transparency and servant leadership.
- Knowledge of Agile approaches – Kanban, Scrum, XP, etc.
- Knowledge and experience with Agile techniques – Automated Testing, User Stories, TDD, Continuous Integration, Testing, Pairing, Agile Games, etc.
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environment.
- Demonstrated organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
