POSITION SUMMARY:

The Employee Safety Specialist position is responsible for managing, implementing and administering standardized ES processes to ensure safety and health compliance to federal, state, and local regulations as well as Corporate Policies and Procedures in the healthcare setting. The Employee Safety Specialist is expected to contribute to the achievement of world class status through managing the elimination of occupational injuries/illnesses. This position will specifically focus on improving and safeguarding the health and safety of all employees, ensuring compliance, supporting World Class Safety Management System.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analyze injury/illness experience, identify/track injury correlation, determine root causes, determine corrective action and communicate this information to leadership and Employee Safety Manager.

Providing safety and health assistance to management, supervisors, employees, and collateral duty safety representatives.

Conducting incident reports and entering reports and findings into safety management systems.

Performing safety inspections, and evaluations to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Developing and delivering training one-on-one, in groups, in classrooms, and via web-delivered media.


Providing outreach to employees, promoting safety awareness throughout the organization.

Investigating complaints and reports of unsafe or unhealthful working conditions; provide recommendations for abatement action; and verify completion of abatement action.

Maintaining recordkeeping for injury/illness cases in accordance with OSHA requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety or an equivalent.

 

3- 5 years of Safety, Environmental, Engineering or related experience

 

Minimum 3-5 years’ experience applying regulations and standards applicable to occupational safety and health, environmental safety and health or industrial hygiene in a variety of settings.

 

3-5 years’ experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word applications.

 

Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently or in a team environment, and collaborate with multiple campus stakeholders.

Must be able to conduct audits, inspections and field work which may include climbing, walking, standing, squatting or kneeling in a variety of indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
